Advanced Nurse Practitioner  – Primary Care Locum Cover | Torquay:

Location: Torquay, Devon
Rate: £45-£50 per hour (Outside IR35)
Duration: Approximately 3 months (with potential extension)
Start: Immediate

We are currently seeking an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner  to support a well-established primary care service in Torquay  providing consistent clinical cover over the next three months.

Role Overview

The successful Advanced Nurse Practitioner will autonomously assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions within a primary care setting.

Working independently while collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary team, you will deliver safe, efficient and evidence-based patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently assess and manage patients with undifferentiated and diagnosed conditions.

• Request and interpret diagnostic investigations where appropriate.

• Prescribe within your clinical competence and scope of practice.

• Manage minor illness and long-term conditions.

• Provide clinical advice, treatment plans and appropriate referrals.

• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NHS standards.

• Work collaboratively with General Practitioners, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team.

• Support safe and effective patient flow across the service.

Essential Requirements

• NMC registered Nurse with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification or equivalent advanced practice training.

• Independent Prescriber (V300 or equivalent).

• Previous experience working within primary care or urgent care.

• Strong clinical decision-making skills and confidence managing undifferentiated presentations.

• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced clinical environment.

• Up-to-date mandatory training, CPD and clinical governance requirements.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using EMIS and SystmOne.

• Previous GP practice or Urgent Treatment Centre experience.

• Experience managing high-volume clinics.

• Minor illness and long-term condition management.
