We are working with an NHS hospital in Shropshire that are looking for a recovery nurse to join their theatre team long term to start from the 5th October. Their shift patterns are Monday to Friday 8am-6pm.

Their theatre department covers the below:

Elective activity includes the following:

Pre-operative Assessment
Upper GI Surgery
Colorectal Surgery
Vascular Surgery
Bariatric Surgery
Urological Surgery
Ophthalmic Surgery
Orthopaedic Trauma
Day Case Surgery
Community Dentals
Inpatient areas
Providing support for recovery staff to ensure that patients return safely to an appropriate post-operative area
Post-operative assessment of patients (including acute pain management)
Education and support to anaesthetists undergoing basic and advanced training
Emergency activity includes:

General Surgery (upper and lower GI)
Vascular Surgery
Orthopaedic Trauma
Ophthalmic Surgery
Urological Surgery

You’re key responsibilities would be:

•       Plan and prepare equipment according to patients needs/procedures

•       Monitor and assess patient’s condition

•       Direct/participate in the manoeuvring and the positioning of conscious and unconscious patients

•       Handover and transferring responsibility of care to colleagues – relaying importing information

•       Supporting and re-assessing patients and relatives/carers during perioperative procedures

•       Implement and evaluate care plans

•       Maintain accurate patient and theatre records

•       Monitor/order stock and supplies, rotating stock as necessary
