Practice Nurse (Locum) – Primary Care
Location: Caerphilly
Contract: Ongoing Locum (2 Days per Week)
Rate: £20 – £24 per hour (DOE)
Start: Immediate / ASAP
Overview
We are currently supporting a GP practice in Caerphilly with the requirement for an experienced Practice Nurse to provide ongoing locum cover.
This requirement has arisen due to long-term sickness absence, offering a stable and consistent opportunity within a well-organised primary care environment.
The role offers regular weekly sessions with a focus on structured immunisation and diabetes management clinics.
Clinical Responsibilities
The successful clinician will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care across the following areas:
Childhood Immunisations
- Delivery of scheduled immunisation programmes (where competent)
- Patient and parent education in line with national guidance
Chronic Disease Management
- Diabetes reviews and structured care planning
- Ongoing monitoring and patient support
Treatment Room Activity
- Wound care and dressings (as clinically appropriate)
- General treatment room duties within competency
Preventative Care
- Health promotion and patient education
- Support with long-term condition optimisation
Requirements
- NMC-registered Practice Nurse
- Proven experience within primary care settings
- Competent in childhood immunisations
- Experience in diabetes and chronic disease clinics
- Confident working autonomously within a GP practice
- Experience using EMIS, SystmOne, or Vision
- Enhanced DBS
Working Pattern
- 2 days per week (flexible scheduling)
- Ongoing requirement due to sickness cover
