Our support workers are an important part of our team, we work with a number of supported living and hostel settings where you will be promoting their independence at every opportunity by helping develop daily living skills. Key performance indicators

  1. Adhere to the home specific policy and procedures
  2. Responsible for maintaining compliance in accordance with Bluestones Medical guidelines
  3. Responsible for reporting any patient safety concerns to Bluestones Medical Divisional Manager: Clinical & Compliance

Key responsibilities

Contributes and assists the in the smooth and efficient running of the specified department. A competent, experienced Support Worker who is responsible for providing effective and safe care under supervision and guidance of a qualified practitioner.

  1. Under the supervision of qualified members of staff, the post holder will assist in the planning and implementation of care of the patient group within the care home environment to which they are assigned to
  2. Take responsibility under the guidance of a Shift Leader for the physical and emotional wellbeing and social needs of residents
  3. Providing physical and mental stimulation by taking part in recreational and social activities with residents, both individually and as a group
  4. Assist residents with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene, dressing and assisting with meals as required
  5. To update patient documentation as required legitimately and ensuring all detail is recorded
  6. To ensure a holistic approach is adopted when administering care
  7. Works in accordance with Bluestones Medical worker’s handbook and Terms and Conditions
  8. Has knowledge of all Health Care Professionals’ roles within the clinical environment
  9. Ensure safe practice in regard to Manual Handling, disposal of sharps and Infection control policies
  10. To ensure understanding and knowledge of local policy and work in conjunction with permanent staff in the area
  11. To carry out additional task’s dependent on the clinical environment and local guidelines
  12. To assist in the cleanliness and tidiness of specific work area and undertake housekeeping tasks as required
  13. To respect the customs, values and spiritual belief of all patients and to maintain dignity at all times
  14. Generally promote residents’ independence, choice, dignity and respect by delivering the very best standards of care

To enable temporary workers to complete clinical shifts as a Support Worker must be able to provide evidence of:

Skills

  1. Excellent communication skills
  2. Knowledge of importance of quality of care and changes in practice
  3. Ability to work in differing areas as required
  4. Proven clinical expertise
  5. Mandatory training in date as per protocol
  6. 6 months’ recent clinical exposure
