We are currently seeking an experienced Midwife to join our team and work at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, part of the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Role Overview
As a Midwife with Bluestones Medical at Leighton Hospital, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based maternity care to women, birthing people, newborns, and their families. You’ll be responsible for supporting individuals throughout their pregnancy, labour, and postnatal journey, ensuring safe, high-quality care in accordance with NMC standards and hospital guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, effective, and person-centred antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
Support normal childbirth and recognise, manage, or escalate complications as appropriate.
Collaborate closely with obstetricians, paediatricians, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
Promote breastfeeding, infant health, and maternal wellbeing through education and support.
Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation.
Ensure care aligns with Leighton Hospital’s policies and the NMC Code of Practice.
Participate in quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
Provide guidance and mentorship to students or junior staff where required.
Requirements
Essential:
Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Minimum of 6 months’ recent UK experience in midwifery (hospital or community setting).
Up-to-date mandatory training and clinical competencies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Desirable:
Previous experience within the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Neonatal Resuscitation and CTG interpretation certification.
