About the Role
Bluestones Medical Agency is currently seeking experienced Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to support theatre services at Liverpool Women’s Hospital on an adhoc / part-time agency basis. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled theatre practitioners who are looking for flexible working while contributing to high-quality patient care within a specialist hospital environment.
As an ODP, you will play a key role in supporting the surgical team throughout the perioperative journey, ensuring patient safety, maintaining theatre efficiency, and delivering high standards of clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional support to surgical teams during anaesthetic, scrub, and recovery stages of surgical procedures.
Prepare operating theatres, ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are ready for procedures.
Assist the anaesthetist during the administration of anaesthesia and patient monitoring.
Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to strict infection control standards.
Support patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists, and other theatre staff.
Monitor patients’ conditions and respond appropriately to any changes.
Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow hospital policies and clinical governance procedures.
Requirements
Qualified Operating Department Practitioner with valid HCPC registration.
Previous experience working in a theatre environment within the NHS or similar healthcare settings.
Strong knowledge of theatre procedures, equipment, and patient monitoring.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Flexibility to work adhoc or part-time agency shifts.
