About the Role

Bluestones Medical is currently recruiting an experienced Band 8a Pharmacist to work within the Pharmacy Department at Salisbury District Hospital.

The successful candidate will require strong aseptic pharmacy experience and will support the delivery of safe, high-quality pharmaceutical services within a hospital environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Pharmacist with a background in aseptic services, technical services and clinical pharmacy to join a busy healthcare setting.

You will work closely with the wider pharmacy team and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure the safe preparation, supply and use of medicines in line with professional standards, legislation and local procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and clinical pharmacy support within an acute hospital setting.
  • Work within and support the delivery of aseptic pharmacy services.
  • Support the preparation, checking and supply of sterile and aseptically prepared medicines in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Ensure all aseptic work is completed in line with local policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Maintain a strong focus on patient safety and medication quality.
  • Undertake appropriate clinical checks and provide specialist pharmaceutical advice.
  • Support the safe and effective use of medicines across the hospital.
  • Work closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide advice on medication-related queries and pharmaceutical issues.
  • Support medicines optimisation and medication safety initiatives.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, audit and clinical governance activities.
  • Support the investigation and management of incidents where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Provide professional support and guidance to junior pharmacy staff and colleagues where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the training and development of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards and hospital policies.

Essential Requirements

  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Previous experience working at Band 8a level or equivalent.
  • Strong experience working within a hospital pharmacy environment.
  • Proven aseptic pharmacy experience.
  • Experience with aseptic preparation and sterile products.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical governance and quality assurance.
  • Excellent understanding of medication safety and medicines optimisation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and professional practice.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Satisfactory compliance and employment checks.
