We are seeking an experienced Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with a focus on cardiac procedures to join our healthcare team in South Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac surgeries, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the perioperative period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of operating theatres for cardiac procedures, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterile and readily available.
- Collaborate closely with surgical teams to provide support during cardiac surgeries, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with surgical procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized operating environment, adhering to strict infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Monitor patients’ responses to anaesthesia and surgical interventions, intervening promptly to address any complications or changes in condition.
- Document all relevant patient information, surgical procedures, and medication administration accurately and in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay updated on the latest advancements in cardiac surgery techniques, equipment, and protocols.
Requirements:
– Valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner.
– Proven experience working in cardiac surgery settings, with a strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures.
– Proficiency in operating specialized cardiac equipment and instrumentation, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
– Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high standards of patient care and safety.
– Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and emergent situations.
– Strong ethical standards and a compassionate approach to patient care.
