Bluestones Medical is currently recruiting experienced Cardiothoracic Theatre Scrub Nurses/Practitioners to support Royal Stoke Hospital on a long-term block booking. The Role

As a Cardiothoracic Theatre Scrub Nurse/Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting complex cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), and the wider multidisciplinary theatre team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety are maintained throughout each procedure.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile operating environment.
• Scrub and assist during a wide range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout operations.
• Ensure surgical instruments, implants, and equipment are prepared and available.
• Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards.
• Complete accurate patient and theatre documentation.
• Support patient safety throughout the perioperative journey.
• Work collaboratively within a fast-paced theatre environment.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, clinical governance, and professional standards.

Essential Requirements

• Current NMC registration (Registered Nurse) or HCPC registration (Operating Department Practitioner).
• Previous experience working as a Cardiothoracic Theatre Scrub Nurse or Scrub ODP.
• Demonstrable experience assisting with cardiothoracic procedures.
• Excellent knowledge of aseptic technique and theatre protocols.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure clinical environment.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Up-to-date mandatory training (or willingness to complete prior to placement).
