About the Role

Bluestones Medical is currently recruiting experienced ITU Nurses (RGNs) to support Aneurin Bevan University Health Board across critical care services in South East Wales.

We have a variety of flexible agency shifts available, giving you the opportunity to work around your lifestyle while earning excellent rates of pay.

As an ITU Nurse, you will provide specialist care to critically ill adult patients requiring advanced monitoring, complex treatments and high levels of nursing support. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will deliver safe, compassionate and evidence-based care within a fast-paced intensive care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill adult patients.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans.
• Monitor and manage patients requiring intensive care support.
• Care for patients requiring invasive monitoring, ventilation and complex therapies.
• Safely administer intravenous medications, infusions and critical care treatments.
• Operate and monitor specialist ITU equipment and patient monitoring systems.
• Recognise and respond promptly to changes in patients’ conditions.
• Support emergency interventions and escalation of deteriorating patients.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation.
• Work collaboratively with medical teams, allied health professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure all care is delivered in line with NMC standards, infection prevention policies and Health Board procedures.

Essential Requirements

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC Pin.
• Minimum of 6 months’ recent UK ITU/ICU experience.
• Experience caring for critically ill adult patients within a hospital setting.
• Confident managing complex clinical situations and high-acuity patients.
• Excellent clinical assessment, communication and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced critical care environment.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to provide satisfactory employment references.
• Up-to-date mandatory training (or willingness to complete).
