Assessment Nurse – Urgent Treatment Centre | Dudley

We are currently seeking experienced Assessment Nurses to support an established Urgent Treatment Centre in Dudley on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for nurses with urgent care experience who are confident undertakinginitial patient assessment, clinical triage, streaming, and prioritisation within a busy UTC environment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of safe and effective patient care by ensuring patients are assessed promptly and directed to the most appropriate pathway or healthcare professional. Dudley UTC provides urgent care services, including walk-in and out-of-hours provision.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake initial clinical assessment of patients presenting to the Urgent Treatment Centre
• Complete triage, streaming, and prioritisation in line with agreed clinical pathways
• Identify patients requiring escalation or urgent intervention
• Support effective patient flow through the service
• Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Provide clear documentation and maintain accurate clinical records
• Work collaboratively with GPs, ANPs, ACPs, and the wider urgent care team
• Deliver care in line with clinical governance, safeguarding, and patient safety standards

Key Candidate Requirements

• Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
• Recent experience working within:
  • Urgent Treatment Centres (UTC)
  • Emergency Departments
  • Walk-in Centres
  • Out of Hours services
  • Acute assessment environments
• Strong clinical assessment and triage skills
• Experience managing undifferentiated patient presentations
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced urgent care environment
• Confident using electronic clinical systems (Adastra experience desirable/essential depending on service requirements)
• Enhanced DBS and relevant compliance documentation required

Rate: £30-£35 per hour
Payment: Ltd Company or Sole Trader
Shifts: Flexible day, evening, night, and weekend sessions available
